Photo taken in the Parc-des-Hautes-Gorges in Quebec, Canada.

Our photo of the day is “Canoe Ride,” shown above. We also put together a gallery of a few other photos we liked from the photographer, Yanik Chauvin.

About the photographer: Yanik has been in love with taking photos since he was a child, when he was nicknamed “Kid Kodak.” He began accepting work as a photographer in 2001 and in 2006 made the decision to become a full-time photographer. He writes photo tutorials at Yanik’s Photo School, and his portfolio is on his website.

Photographer Colleen Pinski used a super telephoto lens and a Canon 7D to help secure this larger than life image, as well as a hot-mirror to protect the camera sensor, and some ND filters. She travelled 370 miles from Denver to find the perfect spot to shoot this solar eclipse in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In this photo, a boy stands 1.5 miles away from the photographer on a ridge, and is framed perfectly by the outline of the sun.
