A supercell thunderstorm rolls across the Montana prairie at sunset

A high precipitation supercell thunderstorm that occurred on July 28th 2010 near Glasgow, Montana.  This image is a stitched panoramic of four shots taken with a Nikon D90 using a 20mm lens. You can see more photos from Sean at his website.

You can download the 1600 x 1200 wallpaper from the National Geographic’s website.

Until a few years ago Sean had only driven through small rural towns on his way to someplace. Never stopping for more that a few moments. But cosmic events unfolded to land him square in the heart of small town america. He fell in love. Since then Sean has been taking back roads, side streets, and cow trails. Exploring his new surroundings. Photographing the rural life and remains of a past generation. His images have been published all over the world. He received an Honorable Mention in the 2010 National Geographic Photo contest. Finished in the top 20 in the 2011 Epson Panoramic Awards and is a Montana Treasured Artist. When Sean does not have a camera in his hand, which in not very often, he is working as an electrician for the people of Glasgow, Montana. Source: http://www.seanrheavey.com/
