Photo Challenge: Summer

I hope you had a good first week of summer. It was another great week for our photo challenge, a lot of great summer photos were sent in. Take a look at the great images, and tell us what you think in the comments.

Here is a picture from St Jean Cap Ferrat, a small peninsula in the south of France, not far from Nice, on the french riviera. This peninsula is famous because only rich people can afford to buy a house there. I actually gave this picture the title “Freedom” for the obvious reason that it resembles the freedom birds have. However, the photo was captured during summer and it can actually relate to the fact that people are free to do anything they want during this period. This is a tree in Oxford, Ohio, where I took a trip to. I think the colors are surprisingly popping and the greenish-yellow moss serves as good contrast to the clear blue sky. Photo Challenge: Self Portrait

Sometimes photographers hide behind the camera, so this week we turned the camera around for our “Self Portrait” photo challenge. Take a look at the photos and tell us what you think in the comments.

Taken with the analogue Spinner 360 camera, I was able to include myself in a panoramic view of the lavender fields surrounding the Sénanque Abbey in the French Provence region. I stuck my camera on my tripod and swung it around during the exposure. I used a cable to release the shutter. Camera was in aperture priority mode set to F22 which would give me the longest shutter as it was a very bright day. Impulse for this self portrait was a beautiful flower lying on the street, which someone must have lost. So I took it home and shoot a picture. To fulfill my vision of a dreamy atmosphere I had to make a color aftertouch, which was the only digital manipulation I undertook.
