On Wednesday we took an initial first look at the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, but as the dust settles, it’s clear that the damage and suffering caused by the storm is massive. Here are some of the latest photos to show the aftermath of this storm, which has caused an estimated 167 deaths in the US and Caribbean and upwards of $50 billion in damages. Around 4.6 million homes and businesses are still without power, shorelines are in ruin, streets are flooded, and fights have broken out at gas stations. Next to Hurricane Katrina, this may be the 2nd most costly storm in US history. We hope everyone in the community is safe and that they’re able to return to their lives as soon as possible.
